Update: 30 Mar. The heating is working perfectly and now the venue has had a chance to warm up the floor has been stripped and repaired. This means we will be re-opening on Monday 9 April - Hoorah!! To make sure the floor is kept in tip top condidtion the venue have also invested £10k on a huge electric cleaner, scrubber, buffer. We are really looking forward to getting back to this amazing venue which has hosted Ceroc classes since 1997.
Update: 12 Mar. The new boiler is now fully operational and is heating the ballroom at last. Now it's up to temperature our attention is now on the dance floor which requires quite a bit of work. A carpenter is in this week dealing with the areas of the floor that buckled in the cold/damp after which it needs to be stripped and re-varvished. Our earlier estimate of Ceroc opening again on a Monday during the last week in March now looks a little optimistic so we are aiming for Monday 2 April but won't know for another week or so. Jeff
Update: 29 Feb. The boiler replacement is a much bigger job than we first thought but as of today the new boiler is in! This week it will be fired up so fingers crossed. Once the venue is warm it's the turn of the floor :-) We hope to be back dancing at MG probably the last week in March, but will keep you posted. Jeff
There will be no Ceroc classes at The
Marcus Garvey Ballroom on a Monday from 30 Jan for around four weeks while
urgent repairs are undertaken at the venue. We apologise for any
inconvenience.
The repairs consist of replacing the broken boiler,
repairing, sanding and re-varnishing the sprung floor which has suffered because
of damp caused by the lack of heating. In addition, during 2012 the venue will
be re-painted and decorated thus completing the renovation and
makeover.
We will keep you up-to-date on how these works are progressing
by email if we have it, but you can also check the latest information through Facebook and Twitter (@CerocUK). We will of course let you know
the date the venue will re-open.
If as a new member you have purchased a
'Six for Three' card in the last three weeks at Marcus Garvey you can still use
it at any of our venues. Or, if you'd prefer to wait and use it at Marcus
Garvey when it re-opens please contact us and we will arrange to extend the
finish date for you.

The old boiler is proving problematic to remove. It's so big that it has to be cut up so it can be safely removed from the building. The new boiler is a quarter of the size and much more efficient.
